DUBAI, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- A United Arab Emirates (UAE) cultural and sports company announced Sunday that it will launch a driving tour from Dubai to Xi'an, capital of China's Shaanxi Province.
A team, named 1% Driver Master, consists of 15 UAE and Chinese drivers and will drive with all-terrain vehicles along the Silk Road.
The team and the drive tour is "about strengthening UAE-China friendship and about fulfilling dreams," said Ma Ninghai, chairman and founder of the Dubai-based team.
The 15,000 kilometers long tour will pass through 22 cities of UAE, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and eventually China, which will last over 30 days from September.
The tour is supported by the UAE's professional drive associations Emirates Motor Sports Federation, the Automobile and Touring Club UAE and scores of Chinese overseas branches.
On their way to China, the team will also make a stopover for the upcoming Chinese Travelers Festival from Oct. 19 to 21, supported by the Emirates Travelers Festival which has been held annually in the UAE.
Awad Mujrin, Chairman of Emirates Travelers Festival, said "the event is expected to strengthen the cultural and sportive relations between the UAE and China."
Atiq Hassan Mubarak from Emirates Motor Sports Federation said the vision and mission of the team is "to strengthen UAE-China cultural relations, to underline the UAE's supporting role of the Belt and Road Initiative, and to foster friendship between our two peoples."
