BUCHAREST, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Monday called on heads of Romanian Diplomatic Corps to promote economic diplomacy abroad and to attract foreign investment.
"Foreign diplomatic missions play the role of being the messengers of Romania's economic offerings, facilitators of contracts with the business community in their countries of residence," Dancila told a meeting with heads of Romanian diplomatic missions who returned to the country to attend the Annual Reunion of Diplomatic Corps.
"I very much appreciate the ambassadors and general consuls who are constantly engaged in activities of economic diplomacy," she said, adding that such heads of missions are praised and represent a model worth replicating.
The PM stressed that the "doors" to Romania's embassies must be always open to national entrepreneurs interested in foreign markets.
She called for a more efficient and coordinated exploitation of those areas where agreements can be concluded and new contracts signed, hoping that heads of diplomatic missions would use to the "fullest extent" the expertise of the diplomats they coordinate, including those sent on an external mission by the different ministries with economic vocation, commercial advisers, labour and social affairs attaches, domestic affairs attaches, military attaches, and tourism attaches.
