JAKARTA, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Park Sang-hoon of South Korea won the men's track cycling individual pursuit at the 2018 Asian Games here on Wednesday.
Park, who set an Asian record of 4 minutes and 19.672 seconds in the qualifying round, defeated Ryo Chikatani of Japan in the final to take the gold.
Artyom Zakharov of Kazakhstan snatched the bronze by beating Ko Siu Wai of Hong Kong, China.
In the individual pursuit, two cyclists start the race on opposite sides of the track. The rider who catches the other is declared the winner.
The 18th Asiad will stage 465 events out of 40 sports, among which 330 events from 32 sports will feature in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 2018 Asian Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes, will run through Sept. 2.
