25 cycling teams to feature international race in Celebes, Indonesia

JAKARTA, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Twenty from offshores and five domestic teams have confirmed their participation in the forthcoming international cycling race in Central Sulawesi province, Indonesia later this year, an organizing official said on Wednesday.

The Tour de Central Celebes is scheduled to kick off on Oct. 14 till Oct. 18, senior official Hasan said.

Among the countries planning to send their cyclists are China, the United States, France, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, Iran, Belgium, Thailand, Columbia, Poland and Uzbekistan, the official said.

"The confirmation of the participation of 20 foreign teams and 5 domestic teams has been final, the number of the participant will not change," he was quoted by state's wire Antara as saying.

The total number of racers confirming their participation, Hasan said, reached 125 people, as each team will send 5 racers and 3 officials. The figure is higher by 26 cyclists compares with that of last year.

The race has enticed more racers, particularly foreign nations, as the event has been listed in the Union Cyclist Internationale, said Hasan.
