DUBAI, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Dubai International Airport (DXB) recorded its second busiest month in July by handling 8.2 million passengers at the airport, United Arab Emirates (UAE) state news agency WAM reported Wednesday.
The number represents a 1.8-percent year-on-year increase, WAM said.
The passenger traffic of the airport reached 51,947,092 during the first seven months, up 1.6 percent year-on-year from 51,120,057 last year, said the airport.
The DXB is the world's busiest airport in relation to international travellers, with more than 80 percent of passengers not entering the UAE but use the airport as a transition hub.
Earlier in the week, the airport said the 1-billion-passenger mark will be reached this year after the airport started operation in 1960.
