Gaza home to 39.7 pct of Palestinian population: census

GAZA, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) announced on Wednesday that the latest census shows the population of the Gaza Strip accounts for 39.7 percent of the total population of Palestine including the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.

According to the census results published earlier in the day, the population of the Gaza Strip has reached 1,899,291, with men accounting for 50.7 percent of the entire population.

According to the PCBS, the project of counting the population of the Gaza Strip created 11,000 temporary jobs for young graduates, 85 percent of which were occupied by women.
