RAMALLAH, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned on Wednesday that the decisions of the United States against Jerusalem and the Palestinian refugees are destructive to the peace process in the Middle East.
Abbas made the remarks at a joint news conference held in Ramallah with Bakir Izetbegovic, chairman of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"These decisions made the United States a biased mediator and not qualified to sponsor the peace talks," said Abbas.
Abbas also slammed Israel "for its hostile aggression and its settlement activities that always represent an obstacle before achieving peace."
"These practices are clearly violating the international laws," he added.
In February, Abbas presented a peace plan to the United Nations Security Council, calling for holding an international peace conference and forming a multi-international mechanism to sponsor the peace process.
Abbas' plan was based on implementing the two-state solution in accordance with the 1967 borders and aimed at giving the Palestinian people freedom and independence with East Jerusalem as their capital.
However, the U.S. government under President Donald Trump has been preparing for a new peace plan called "Deal of the Century" against which the Palestinians have repeatedly voiced their rejection.
The Palestinian Authority severed its ties with the Trump administration after he declared Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in December of 2017 and moved the U.S. embassy to the disputed holy city on May 14.
Meanwhile, Izetbegovic confirmed that his country voted in favor of protecting Palestinian civilians in the Palestinian territories.
He also reiterated his country's calls to end violence and begin with a dialogue that achieves peace in the region.
"We back the efforts in holding an international peace conference that reaches a fair and everlasting solution based on the implementation of the international resolutions," he said.
