BUCHAREST, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Romanian government announced on Thursday to allocate a budget of 45 million euros for implementing the Government Cloud project in two years.
The future Government Cloud will be the core of the public administration, bringing to institutions innumerable advantages, among which scalability, flexibility, high performance, resilience, safety and cost-effectiveness, said Minister of the Communications Bogdan Cojocaru.
According to him, the cloud will also bring substantial expenditure cuts within the institutions, by curbing costs for the purchase of IT equipment and services in the public sector, including hardware, software and other operations.
"With the implementation of this project, there will be no longer the burden of ensuring the maintenance of information systems," the minister added.
The Government Cloud project proposes a new approach and an integrated solution that provides services of storage, processing and remote use of computer-based systems and applications via Internet, based on sharing resources to achieve coherence and generate savings in an IT&C network developed at the level of public institutions, official Agerpres news agency explained in a report.
