YANGON, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has announced exemption of commercial tax on import of medical devices, Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.
According to a notification of the Customs Department released in the weekend quoting the 2018 Union Tax Law, medical cotton, cloth, bandages, dressings, disposable masks used in hospitals, surgical gloves, hospital outfits, masks for prevention of flu are designated as commercial-exempted goods.
In addition, x-ray film, x-ray paraphernalia and other medical equipment prescribed by the health department are also exempted from commercial tax, the notification said.
This is the second notification of commercial tax exemption by the customs department after the first in July in which pharmaceuticals are exempted from commercial tax.
