CAIRO, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Embassy in Egypt said Tuesday on its Twitter account that it was aware of a "reported incident" near the embassy and asked people to leave the area.
Earlier, some local news websites reported that an explosion took place near the U.S. embassy in Simon Bolivar Street in the heart of the Egyptian capital Cairo.
No casualties were reported.
The embassy urged the citizens to avoid the area and monitor local media for updates.
