NAIROBI, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's national football team will play Malawi in an international friendly in Nairobi on Tuesday as part of their preparations for their Africa Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier.

Malawi, who are in Group B will arrive in the country on Monday from Rabat. They are due to play Morocco in the AFCON qualifier on Sunday.

Group B contains Cameroon, who qualifies automatically as hosts of the 2019 AFCON, Morocco, Malawi and the Comoros.

"We play Malawi on Sept 11 in Nairobi," said Nick Mwendwa of the Football Kenya Federation. "It is within the international break and we want to make use of every opportunity."

Kenya will be hosting Ghana in Group F in Nairobi on Saturday.

Kenyan head coach Sebastian Migne will be hoping to start his reign on a winning note after being appointed in April.

Kenya started their campaign with a 2-1 loss away to Sierra Leone in Freetown while Ghana beat Ethiopia 5-0 in Kumasi. This means that the Saturday's tie will be crucial.

"Ghana is a big team, I can say one of the top five teams in Africa and for sure it will be a tough game. I cannot say that Kenya is better than Ghana. What I can say is we will give our best to get a result," Migne said.

"I have watched their last two games where they won away to Japan and drew 2-2 with Iceland and I have some idea of what to expect from them. My team is ready and everyone is focused on the game," Migne added.

In addition to hosts Cameroon, the Africa Nations Cup will have all the 12 group winners qualify alongside the three best runners-up. Should Cameroon top their group, the second-placed side in Group B will contest the finals. The qualifying campaign concludes in November.

In other qualifiers, Egypt begins a new era under Mexican coach Javier Aguirre when they face Niger in a Group B clash in Alexandria on Saturday.

In Group J, Tunisia travels to face hosts Swaziland on Sunday while Lesotho coach Moses Maliehe has declared his team ready for the Group L clash against Cape Verde in Maseru. Enditem
