Indonesian police arrest Polish man for supporting separatist group

JAKARTA, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian police has nabbed a Polish man who has allegedly plotted to supply weaponry to a separatist group in Papua province, a police officer said here on Wednesday.

The Polish man was arrested along with four Indonesian fellows in Jayawijaya of the province on Aug. 26, national police spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo said.

"His role, so far, is reassuring the armed group that he will help providing logistic, weapons," the spokesman said.

The Indonesian police and the country's foreign ministry are further investigating the role of the Polish man.

Papua is home to Free Papua Movement, a separatist group, which have been engaged in guerrilla wars to establish an independent state.
