TRIPOLI, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Members of Libya's eastern-based parliament on Wednesday agreed to hold an emergency session on Thursday to discuss constitution referendum law.
"Consultative meetings were held today at the parliament's headquarters. The members present agreed to hold an emergency meeting tomorrow," parliament spokesman Abdullah Bhelig said, confirming that the session will discuss referendum law on permanent constitution draft.
The announcement came with international pressure on the parliament to pass a constitution referendum law, which the parliament failed to issue a year ago.
Libya has been struggling to make a democratic transition ever since the fall of the former leader Gaddafi's regime in 2011. The country is plagued with insecurity and political division.
