TRIPOLI, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Libya's eastern-based parliament on Thursday approved the constitution referendum law in an extraordinary session.
In addition to the approval of the law, the House of Representatives also decided to hold another session to discuss the constitutional amendment to protect the law against challenges, according to Abdullah Bhelig, spokesman of the parliament.
A day earlier, Parliament Speaker Agila Saleh called on the parliament members to hold an emergency session to discuss issuing referendum law.
Libya has been struggling to make a democratic transition amid insecurity and political division since the fall of its former leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011.
