KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Unknown armed militants gunned down a district chief and his son in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province on Saturday, an official said.
"Unidentified armed militants opened fire on Governor of Shamanzo district Haj Mehmand and his son in Ainu Mina town, killing both on the spot and made their good escape," Aziz Ahmad Azizi, the provincial governor spokesman, told Xinhua.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
