RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Jadson struck his third Brazilian Serie A goal of the season as defending champions Corinthians snapped a three-game winless run with a 2-1 victory over Sport Recife on Sunday.
Former Brazil midfielder Jadson fired a low 12-yard shot into the bottom left corner just before the hour mark and Danilo Avilar rifled in his team's second goal from close range in the 89th minute.
The result at Arena Corinthians left the seven-time Serie A champions eighth in the 20-team standings, 17 points behind leaders Sao Paulo. Sport Recife remained 19th.
In Rio de Janeiro, relegation-threatened Botafogo rose four points clear of the drop zone with a 1-0 home win over America Mineiro thanks to a first-half strike from Rodrigo Lindoso.
In other matches on Sunday, Atletico Paranaense won 3-1 at home to Fluminense, Palmeiras drew 1-1 at Bahia, Sao Paulo drew 0-0 at Santos and Cruzeiro were held to a 0-0 home draw by Atletico Mineiro.
