TOKYO, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Friday morning with the benchmark Nikkei stock index hitting an eight-month high as buying was propelled by the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing at a record high overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 118.42 points, or 0.50 percent, from Thursday to 23,793.35.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 9.49 points, or 0.53 percent, at 1,797.09.
Insurance, fishery, agriculture and forestry, and marine transportation issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
