ASSADABAD, Afghanistan, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Five militants affiliated to the hardliner Islamic State (IS) group were killed as fighting aircraft targeted the insurgents hideout in the eastern Kunar province on Friday, an official of the Afghan National Army (ANA) said.
"Aimed at eliminating the so-called Islamic State group we targeted the terrorists hideout in Kalai Kal area of Manogai district early this morning, killing five on the spot," ANA Brigadier Mir Wais Safi told Xinhua.
He also added the airstrikes against the militants would continue in the area.
IS militants who are active in the eastern Kunar and neighboring Nangarhar province are yet to make comment on the report.
