NEW DELHI, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least two children were killed and seven people injured in a residential building collapse in India's capital New Delhi on Wednesday, officials said.
The mishap occurred in northern Delhi's Ashok Vihar area.
"The three-storeyed residential building caved in this morning. While two children were buried alive under the debris, seven people have been pulled out," a local civic official said.
The seven people who were injuries have been admitted to a nearby hospital, he added.
Local TV channels showed footage of the National Disaster Relief Force and fire brigade carrying out rescue operations at the site and looking for survivors.
"A probe has been ordered into the incident," the official added.
Building collapses are common in India during monsoon season every year because of poor construction standards and lack of regards for basic safety norms.
