TRIPOLI, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- A young man was killed in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi by a landmine planted by terrorist groups, who were expelled by the eastern-based army from the city a year ago.
"Ramzi Mohammed al-Baraki, 28, was killed Thursday night when a landmine exploded in downtown Benghazi," Fadia al-Barghathi, director of al-Jala hospital's information office in Benghazi said Friday.
"The young man died when he arrived at the hospital," Al- Barghathi explained, confirming that "the hospital still receives casualties of landmines in Benghazi from time to time."
In Benghazi, the second largest city in Libya, hundreds of civilians were killed by landmines planted by terrorist groups in areas under their control, before they were expelled by the army last year.
Local authorities in Libya are struggling to remove those landmines, as Western countries have promised to assist in demining.
