RIGA, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- An exit poll conducted after polling stations closed across Latvia on Saturday night suggested that left-wing Harmony party led this year's parliamentary election by garnering 19.4 percent of votes, local media reported.

The liberal centrist electoral alliance For Development/For is the runner-up with 13.4 percent of votes, followed by the right-wing National Alliance with 12.6 percent voter support, according to the exit poll co-conducted by LETA news agency.

Voter turnout in Saturday's election was slightly above 52 percent, according to preliminary data released by the Central Election Commission.

To receive mandates in Latvia's 100-seat parliament, the Saeima, a party has to win more than 5 percent of the vote.

The survey of voters who participated in the general election shows other parties likely to win seats in Latvia's new parliament include the New Conservative Party, KPV LV, the centrist Greens and Farmers Union, and New Unity.
