World Health Summit kicks off in Berlin

BERLIN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The 10th World Health Summit kicked off in Berlin on Sunday, attracting 2,000 global health experts to discuss major health challenges.

Central topics at this year's summit include pandemic preparedness, the crisis of antimicrobial resistance, access to essential medicines and treatments, the impact of the digital healthcare revolution, among other topics, according to the organizer.

The summit will feature high-profile speakers including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, two Nobel laureates and 16 CEOs at international companies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Since it was launched in 2009, the World Health Summit has provided a forum for exchange with experts from academia, industry, politics and civil society.
