PARIS, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Lyon bounced back from their five-goal loss before the international break to get past promoted sides Nimes 2-0 in the 10th round match of Ligue 1 on Friday.

Lyon lost to dominant leaders Paris Saint-Germain two weeks ago, handing the latter their record-breaking ninth straight victory to start the French top-flight league campaign.

Moussa Dembele opened the scoring in the first half for Lyon, whose win was secured by Memphis Depay's late goal.

Prior to other matches of the round on Saturday and Sunday, Lyon move up to third at the table.

Lyon displayed their response to the agonizing loss to PSG early on, as they almost broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the match.

After Houssem Aouar's curling shot was blocked by goalkeeper Paul Bernadoni, Depay saw his close-range tip just wide off the post.

Dembele moved Lyon in front in the 24th minute. He collected a long pass from center half Marcelo, steadied himself and fired a low shot past Bernadoni.

Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes made several saves after the interval for a clean sheet.

It was Depay that pocketed the win. The Dutch took advantage of clumsy clearance of Nimes to dummy a defender and score in the 90th minute.

With 17 points in hand, Lyon provisionally sit third, one point ahead of Marseille and Montpellier.

Former French great Thierry Henry is set to embrace his debut as Monaco head coach at Strasbourg on Saturday. PSG target at extending their record in a home encounter against Amiens.
