MANAGUA, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- A landslide caused by days of intense rain claimed the lives of four family members in northern Nicaragua on Saturday, said local authorities.
According to the governor of the northern city of Jinotega, Leonidas Centeno, the landslide occurred on Saturday and buried the family's home in the municipality of Santa Maria de Pantasma.
Among the family members killed were two children aged 4 and 13, he said.
Centeno reported that the bodies of the two adults have been recovered and the work is continuing to find the bodies of the children.
Another family member, an 8-year-old boy who was not at home at the time of the landslide, survived.
