KUNMING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province have arrested three people on suspicion of smuggling drugs from Myanmar to China and seized over 127 kg of methamphetamine, local authorities said Sunday.

Police in Gengma County received information on Tuesday that a tractor with a Burmese license plate had sneaked across the border into Yunnan.

Police immediately set up an investigation team and busted three suspects in the tractor the same day. Three bags of methamphetamine, weighing 127.45 kg in total, were found smuggled in the vehicle.

Further investigation is underway.

Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle, an area spanning Thailand, Laos and Myanmar that is notorious for rampant drug production and trafficking.
