LISBON, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Portuguese National Republican Guard (GNR) coastal control unit have rescued 41 migrants on their way to Greece from a small inflatable boat on the Aegean sea, the Portuguese Lusa News Agency reported on Sunday.
In a statement released on Sunday, the GNR said that among the 41 migrants were 15 children and two pregnant women, who demanded "special care" in the rescue operation carried out on Saturday.
The maritime surveillance team of the coastal control unit detected the inflatable boat through thermal vision equipment.
The GNR has 13 military personnel on the Greek island of Samos, where they work on a mission of the European Border and Coastguard Agency (Frontex).
