MANAMA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain authorities on Wednesday launched a special hotline that will allow public to report cases of foreign countries allegedly trying to influence next month's polls.
The Interior Ministry's Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security director general said citizens and residents can report such cases on hotline or via email. The information will be treated as confidential.
"This follows the intensive and continuous media reports on the Qatari and Iranian moves to influence parliamentary elections in a number of countries, including recent elections in Lebanon and Iraq," said the ministry in a statement.
The ministry warned that globally there are laws regulating the elections and penalties for bribing voters to undermine their electoral rights.
Bahrain's parliamentary and municipal council elections will be held on Nov. 24 with a total of 365,467 registered voters.
