BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- China appreciates the Australian state of Victoria in its support of building the Belt and Road, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said on Tuesday.
Lu's remarks came after media reports saying Victoria has become the first state in Australia to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China on the Belt and Road Initiative.
"The Victorian state government has seized the opportunity to intensify pragmatic cooperation with China, which will bring more opportunities and benefits to the local people," Lu said at a daily press briefing.
The Chinese side is confident in mutually beneficial cooperation, the spokesperson added.
