JAKARTA, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's national women football team will compete in the first round of qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Football Association of Indonesia said on Friday.

The first round of qualification is scheduled to be held in Palestine from November 8 to 13, the association, known as PSSI, said in a statement.

Indonesian are in Group D along with the Maldives, Jordan, and hosts Palestine.

"We are grouped with tough teams and we must be wary of all of them," said Indonesia head coach Rully Nere.

However, Nere asserted that the Indonesian team is confident of progressing into the second round of qualification.

Nere added that the team had practiced hard and is well prepared, saying that the focus is now to improve the physical condition of the players, as it has been a long time without a competitive match.

The last match played by the Indonesia's women was during the Asian Games in August, Nere noted.

The first round of Olympic qualification is set to feature 18 nations divided into four groups.

Each group winners and the two best group runners-up will progress into the second round of qualification.

Indonesia will first play Palestine on November 8, followed by the Maldives on November 11 and Jordan two days later.
