6.5-magnitude earthquake strikes off Solomon Islands

SYDNEY, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck east off the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, which occurred at 0326 GMT, was initially centered to be at 10.4 degrees south latitude and 163.4 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 33.0 km.
