BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Government authorities in Beijing are considering protecting intangible cultural heritage through means of promotion in local communities.

A draft regulation currently under review has added an item encouraging intangible cultural heritage in communities, according to the ninth session of the Standing Committee of the 15th People's Congress of Beijing on Wednesday.

The draft said that grassroots communities should be encouraged to display their heritage, while activities should be held and platforms established to help present such heritage.

Beijing is also considering including intangible cultural heritage into education, urging education authorities to incorporate such heritage into relevant school curriculums and encouraging inheritors and experts to teach related classes in schools.

The draft also encourages a variety of means, including research and activities, to help with heritage promotion.
