BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese courts have live-streamed more than 2 million trials, according to the Supreme People's Court (SPC) Tuesday.
Over 13 billion accumulated hits were registered since the website for live streaming trials (http://tingshen.court.gov.cn/) was launched in 2013, said the SPC.
The record number of viewers on a single trial was more than 33.63 million, it said.
Live streaming trials enable the public to know about and supervise judicial processes and play an important role in improving judicial fairness, the SPC said.
The SPC also released 31 measures to deepen judicial openness, requiring efforts to make public trials timely according to relevant regulations, it said.
Efforts should be made to extensively expand the range of judicial openness and publicize information on judicial reform, international judicial exchanges, and cooperation, among others, it said.
It also stressed the need to improve the management system for judicial openness and facilitate the channel for concerned parties and lawyers to obtain judicial information, it said.
