ISTANBUL, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police on Tuesday detained 23 suspects linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) over their alleged plot to launch attacks in Istanbul, local media reported.

According to CNNTurk, the suspects were planning to carry out attacks with Molotov cocktails and improvised explosive devices on Tuesday, the founding anniversary of the PKK.

Counterterrorism units launched simultaneous operations in 28 locations across the city to catch the suspects, the broadcaster said.

Police also seized a large number of digital materials and documents related to the group during the raids, the report added.

The PKK, listed as a terror group by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, has been fighting the Turkish state since the 1970s.
