JAKARTA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The 6th Fund Raising Run event would be held across two provinces in Java, expected to raise some 2.5 billion rupiahs (about 174,600 U.S. dollars) to help finance the education for disabled persons in Indonesia, the organizing committee said here on Friday.
The three-day Nusantarun mass run event, participated by over 200 runners, was slated from Dec. 7 to 9, contending two classes of full course and half course that oblige the runners to run 169 and 86 kilometers respectively.
The running would start from Central Java province's city of Wonosobo, to finish in Gunung Kidul in the neighboring province of Yogyakarta.
"Through the 'Education for All' campaign we want to say that disabled persons also have the same rights to access education and jobs," Founder of Nusantarun event Jurian Andika told a press conference here, conveying the theme of the running event this year. The annual charity run event has been held since 2013.
He added that disabled person in Indonesia now reached 30 million ones, accounting for 12.5 percent of the population. Only 54.26 percent of them have access to education.
According to him, over 45.74 percent of disabled person in the country could not get basic education in elementary schools. In term of obtaining jobs, he said that only 51.2 percent of disabled persons get access to jobs.
