No jail time asked for ex-U.S. National Security Advisor Flynn over Russia probe

WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- U.S. special counsel Robert Mueller's team on Tuesday recommended no jail time for former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, citing his "substantial assistance" in the Russia probe in a court filing.

Flynn pleaded guilty in December 2017 to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia. He was scheduled to be sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Dec. 18.
