TIRANA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The producer price index (PPI) in Albania in the third quarter of this year increased by 2.8 percent compared with the same period of 2017, Albanian National Statistics Institute (INSTAT) reported on Wednesday.
According to INSTAT, the PPI in the third quarter of 2018, increased by 0.4 percent compared with second quarter of 2018.
The Q3 producer prices index, based on INSTAT data, in "mining and quarrying" section rose 2.5 percent over the second quarter, mainly due to the "extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas products", which was up 2.4 percent.
Meanwhile, the PPI index in manufacturing decreased by 0.1 percent compared with the previous quarter, as a result of manufacture of food products, fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment, and of leathers and leather products.
Compared with the second quarter this year, the producer prices for domestic market went up 0.4 percent, mainly influenced by the sections of "electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning" and "mining and quarrying".
Moreover, the export price index in the third quarter recorded an increase by 0.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, mainly due to the 2.4 percent increase in "mining and quarrying".
