TOKYO, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 struck off the coast of eastern Japan's Mie prefecture on Monday, Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The temblor occurred at 0: 22 a.m. local time, with the epicenter at a latitude of 33.1 degrees north and a longitude of 138.0 degrees east.
The quake logged 2 in some parts of Tochigi prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.
So far no major damage or injuries were reported, and no tsunami warning has been issued.
