Xinhua Headlines: Past and present: 40 years of change in the lives of the Chinese people

The upper part of this combo photo taken in 1992 shows 50-year-old Qian Zhenghua posing for a photo with his 44-year-old wife Yang Jiamei in a small dormitory room provided by his work unit in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province.
