BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese media experts gathered in Beijing on Monday to discuss media convergence and the development of new media at the first China New Media Conference organized by the All-China Journalists Association.
Managers from over 100 media organizations and scholars from academic institutions raised suggestions on advancing the industry's development. Winners of the first media convergence prize under the China News Awards shared experiences of producing popular new media products.
Guo Weimin, deputy director of the State Council Information Office, said media convergence work should be user-oriented, people-centered and focused on creating competitive new media products.
To deepen reform, the association set up a committee on new media in July 2018. The conference is part of a range of moves by the committee to promote the development of new media.
The conference will convene annually in the future.
