MANAMA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain will reopen its embassy in Syria and resume diplomatic work, the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Friday said in a statement.
"The ministry stressed Bahrain's keenness on continuing relations with Syria, underscoring the importance of consolidating the Arab role so as to maintain Syrian independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity," said the statement.
The ministry also underlined the importance of activating the pan-Arab role to prevent any regional interference in its internal affairs, which would "consolidate security and stability in Syria and achieve the Syrian people's ambitions for peace, development and progress."
The move follows a day after the United Arab Emirates reopened its embassy in Damascus on Thursday.
