LONDON, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- A woman in her 70s and a taxi driver were killed early Monday in a horrific crash after the woman was seen driving the wrong way down a dual carriageway in east London.
London police rushed to the A13 in Dagenham, east London, at 0145 GMT on Monday, but were too late to stop the car before the crash.
The taxi driver is thought to be in his 40s.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the accident, saying that shortly after the car travelling the wrong way down the carriageway, "the vehicle was involved in a collision with a taxi heading in the opposite direction. Next of kin have not been informed."
The road is currently closed as investigations and a clear up is carried out.
A similar crash in October saw three people die, after driver John Norton, 80, and his partner Olive Howard, 87, took a wrong turn down the M40 northbound carriageway.
