MAPUTO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Fishery authorities of Mozambique announced Friday that the activities of fishing and marketing of shrimp are prohibited for two months in the country to allow production recovery.
The prohibition is in force from the beginning of January until the end of February, fisheries manager of the provincial directorate of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries Mauricio Mausse told the press in Maputo.
"There should be no record of fishing, sale and transportation of shrimp during the prohibition period, "said Mausse, adding the decision came from the need to improve the supply response to the market.
The manager said that the market inspection is underway, and punitive measures are properly clarified.
"We have indeed found that the vessels are tucked up and the equipment properly tidied up," he said.
