HO CHI MINH CITY, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Bodies of three victims were found from a barge accident in Vietnam's southern Tien Giang province, provincial police said on Saturday.
A 27-year-old man from southern Tra Vinh province, a 22-year-old man from Tien Giang, and a 32-year-old man from southern Ben Tre province died after the barge sank on the Tien River on Friday morning.
The barge with of 303 tons leaked amid strong waves when it was anchored and rapidly sank with four people sleeping in its cabin. Among the four, only a 34-year-old man from Ben Tre was rescued.
In 2018, Vietnam reported 18,232 traffic accidents which killed 8,125 people, and seriously injured 5,124 people and slightly wounded 9,070 others, posting year-on-year declines of 9.2 percent, 1.9 percent, 8.3 percent and 20.8 percent respectively, said the country's Traffic Police Department.
