TRIPOLI, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- The UN International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) on Sunday said it signed a partnership agreement with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) to provide education for children in Libya's Tripoli and Benghazi.
"UNICEF Libya signed its first partnership agreement in 2019 with NRC. The agreement aims to provide access to education for girls and boys in Tripoli and Benghazi," UNICEF said in a statement.
Libyan cities, particularly the capital Tripoli and the eastern Benghazi, suffer escalating violence and insecurity that negatively affect education in the country.
Additionally, years of armed conflict forced many Libyans to flee their homes to other areas and cities, making it difficult for children to access proper education.
