LONDON, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.66 percent, or 45.03 points, to close at 6,906.63 points.
Taylor Wimpey, a UK-based housebuilding company, soared 6.20 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. ITV and Wood Group (John) increased by 4.91 percent and 4.55 percent, respectively.
Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a banking and financial services company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.17 percent.
