YEREVAN, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nikol Pashinyan has been re-appointed the prime minister of Armenia by President Armen Sarkissian, the president's office said on Monday.
"In pursuance of paragraph 1, Article 149 of the Constitution, the president appoints Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister," said the presidential decree.
Earlier on Monday, the ruling My Step Alliance, which holds a majority in parliament, nominated Nikol Pashinyan as the candidate for the position of prime minister in the first session of the 7th convocation parliament, which launched on Monday.
The new government shall be established within 15 days after the appointment of the prime minister.
According to the country's Central Election Commission, the My Step Alliance won a landslide victory in the country's parliament elections on December 9, 2018, clinching more than 70 percent of the votes.
