6.1-magnitude quake hits Bismarck Sea off PNG

HONG KONG, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.1 magnitude jolted Bismarck Sea near Papua New Guinea (PNG) on Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 3.3033 degrees south latitude and 146.3098 degrees east longitude.
