CAIRO, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Egypt to meet with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi late January, the Akhbar el-Yom newspaper reported Saturday.
The two sides will discuss a number of issues of mutual interest, including stability in the Middle East, counter-terrorism, illegal immigration and economic relations, the report said.
This will be Macron's first visit to Egypt since he took office in 2017.
French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire will visit Cairo on Sunday to prepare for Macron's visit.
In a statement on its website, the French embassy in Cairo said Le Maire will hold talks with a number of Egyptian officials headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Le Maire will discuss the means to boosting economic cooperation between Egypt and France, it said.
