TRIPOLI, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Libya's Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad M'etig on Tuesday called on South Korean companies to resume projects in Libya that have been suspended due to security conditions in the country.

M'etig made his remarks during a meeting with the South Korean ambassador to Libya Choi Sung-Soo in the capital Tripoli where the two officials discussed cooperation between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the PM's information and communication office, M'etig urged South Korean companies to resume power and infrastructure projects, particularly in the cities of Sirte and Tripoli.

M'etig also demanded a timetable for the stages of completion of projects, pledging to work on facilitating the return of the South Korean companies to Libya, the statement said.

Most foreign companies in Libya have left since 2014 when violent clashes between rival armed groups broke out in the capital Tripoli, leading to lingering political division across the country.
