LUSAKA, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 1,817 people died in different road accidents in Zambia last year, police said on Wednesday.
Police Spokesperson of Zambia Esther Mwaata-Katongo said that the country recorded 30,625 road accidents last year, up from 30,163 in 2017.
She said in a statement that 15,822 people were injured in various road accidents during the year, down from 15,951 in 2017.
A total of 1,481 children under 15 years old were involved in those accidents, in which 181 died, the spokesperson added.
